A love greater than life

Based on Psalm 63:1-8
You O God are my God alone,
With longing this soul begins to groan,
A thirst this world can’t satisfy,
These lips are parched, the land so dry.

But when I saw you in that Holy place,
Where tides of glory filled the space,
With waves of power and an ocean grace,
My soul drank deep of the sweetest taste.

A love greater than life.

A love that stirs this voice to sing,
A joyful song to God my King,
That lifts these hands up to the sky,
Roaring praise to God on high.

As singing lips receive their fill,
Shout your eternal praise they will,
You who serve the finest dishes,
Your feast of love and all its riches.

A love greater than life.

A love that bears me full to bed,
Where thoughts of God dance through my head,
A love that flames in darkest night,
My surest help, my brightest light.

In the shadow of your mighty wings,
My heart will sing as my soul it clings,
To the hand of God who keeps me strong,
And holds me up to sing this song.

Of a love greater than life.
